The Mamavation Group on Facebook is a private, “invite-only” group. It’s got about 20,000 women, mostly from across the United States, inside. This is where Mamavation investigations are developed and organized, where donations of products are coordinated, and where most daily support occurs. In fact, this website solely serves the women in this Facebook group. And then instead of keeping all this information for ourselves, we publish it here for the world to benefit from as well. But everything starts in our Facebook group.
The Mamavation Facebook group has recently changed to “invite-only,” meaning you need an invitation from someone already in the group to gain access. Yes, it’s very exclusive, and that’s something our group loves. The temperature inside is very warm, friendly, and helpful, and free of politics or online arguments. We are simply focused on supporting each other on this non-toxic journey.
If you’ve been part of Mamavation for some time and never applied to the group when it was easier to get in, we are sorry. Now things are a bit different. You’ll need to apply as if you were new to this group, since you are technically new to it.
How to Gain Access to Mamavation’s Private Group
- STEP ONE: Find someone who is already part of the private Facebook group. With over 20,000 women, I’m sure you’ll be able to find some cross-over in other groups or with friends. The non-toxic world is smaller than you think.
- STEP TWO: When you find a member, ask them to invite you directly from the Facebook group. If they are a member, they will have access to the inside and the inviting tools. It’s up to them if they want to vouch for you, but that is what they will have to do for you to gain entrance. When they invite you, make sure to fill out all the form questions. Another way to apply is to click here and tell us who they are. We will verify that they are already a member. Members are not restricted on how many people they can invite.
- STEP THREE: Wait for me to get to your application. I do this all myself, and some weeks are slower than others. But at least every week, I’m accepting new members.
Why Were These Changes Made
Why were these changes made? Lots of reasons, but here are the main ones:
- I wanted to slow the group’s growth so we could maintain this friendly, supportive vibe with minimal effort
- Relying on the “invite-only” system reduces my workload and allows me to spend more time on investigations and less time reviewing Facebook profiles. No, I don’t like farming this out because I like to know who is inside my group.
- It also helps maintain our member quality because they are friends of friends.
- It helps reduce spam within the group.
- This type of exclusivity is something our membership LOVES and supports. We are already a female-only group.
What are the Benefits to Mamavation Facebook Group Members
The Mamavation group plans content and investigations based on the needs of these women. You will need to have an active account with Facebook to take part. But once you are inside (and membership is free), there are several advantages:
- Influence our investigations based on your personal experiences. I’m constantly looking for new categories of food or home goods to test and hearing about your needs may help us make decisions on what to test!
- Donate the EXACT products your family uses if we decide to start testing that category. Many members donate unused products they are already purchasing so we can send it to the lab. If you decide to donate, it’s going to be exactly what you bring into your home.
- Daily support from other members if you become active. It’s very easy to make friends in our forum.
- We are all pretty chill. We promise not to discuss politics or anything controversial that doesn’t have to do with testing and hormone-disrupting chemicals. In other words, we are not political.
- You’ll know what is coming out before it hits! Community members inside get updates on when investigations are coming out.
- Help with affiliate partners. If you’ve purchased something from an affiliate partner, we can assist behind the scenes with needs. For instance, if you need help returning an air purifier or water filter OR you just need some questions answered.
- Direct access to Leah Segedie. This is where I do the most work answering questions and helping the community. I’m just limited on time so this is where I spend most of my time.
- Help with MAMAGATE or anything on the site. Mamavation has a new content-gating system called MAMAGATE, and you get the fastest assistance by being part of this group.
