If you’ve been reading Mamavation for a while, you know that Stonyfield Organic is one of the very first brands I supported after making the switch to organic food for my family. And when it comes to organic yogurt, I’m all about their line. I’ve always believed in their mission and their passion for protecting the planet. And now, years later, I’m still inspired.
Disclosure: Stonyfield is a sponsor of the ShiftCon Social Media Conference, an influencer conference produced by Mamavation.
Last year Stonyfield became a sponsor of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums SAFE program (Saving Animals from Extinction) to help educate kids and their families about endangered animals. Stonyfield aimed to bring kids everywhere up close and personal with the animal kingdom to learn about the conservation projects and efforts that are taking place to save these critical species – to in turn help kids learn how they can make a difference.
Did you know that..
- The Arctic Sea ice has thinned by 40% since the 1960s
- We have more greenhouse gasses now than we have ever had in recorded history
- 200 species become extinct every 24 hours
- There has been a 50% decrease in Australian Emus since 1980
- The African Elephant could become extinct by 2020
- 33% of sharks and rays are threatened with extinction
- 61% of penguins are also threatened with extinction
Now, Stonyfield is teaming up with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America to push their mission even further….
Over the next year, Stonyfield wants to help take kids from Boys & Girls clubs across the country for a day at one of America’s AZA accredited Zoos and Aquariums — and they’re asking for your help! This is about giving children a better understanding of the world we live in and help them understand how valuable our planet is and the creatures that live inside it by giving them up close and personal experience of wildlife. Because a polar bear is a lot more than an icon on a climate change infographic and a real life tiger is so much more than a statistic. During the campaign, Stonyfield will match every donation made up to $125,000. Essentially, doubling the impact of each donation.
Trips like these give kids a chance to see and learn for themselves. Stonyfield wants kids to know that an elephant is more than just a Saturday morning cartoon character, and they can help protect these animals and their ecosystems as the future leaders they are! And why not? It’s an all hands on deck moment to save our planet and all the creatures within it. These children and the decisions they make in the future about what to support and what not to support will affect us forever. They are the future. And Stonyfield is invested in helping give them an opportunity to understand the value of wildlife.
