Are you looking for a safe organic honey that has no detectable glyphosate or 500+ other pesticides? Mamavation just sent Nature Nate’s 100% Pure Organic Raw & Unfiltered Honey to an EPA-certified laboratory and tested it for glyphosate and 500+ other pesticides and have great news to report back! You’ve trusted Mamavation to bring you other consumer studies like oat milks tested for glyphosate, best water purifiers to filter PFAS “forever chemicals,“& salts tested for heavy metals and microplastics, now join us for the details from our testing of Nature Nate’s 100% Pure Organic Raw & Unfiltered Honey.

Result of Nature’s Nate’s Organic Raw Honey Pesticide Testing

Mamavation sent Nature Nate’s 100% Pure Organic Raw & Unfiltered Honey to an EPA-certified laboratory. We paid for the testing of glyphosate & 500+ additional pesticides. Here were the results:

  • Test: Glyphosate, Glufosinate, and AMPA results — non-detect
  • Test: 500+ Pesticide results — non-detect

Why did we run these specific tests on honey? Let’s break it down.

Glyphosate

Glyphosate, the most popular herbicide in the world, has been found in honey products. The problem with honey is you can’t control where the bees go, so even if it’s USDA certified organic honey, we really have no idea where those bees are pollinating. Since glyphosate is used by millions of farmers around the globe, it’s also going to be an exposure to honeybees as they are pollinating crops, wild flowers along green belts and golf courses, and home gardens. Glyphosate is also considered toxic to bees and has been declared a probable carcinogen by the World Health Association to humans as well.

To make matters worse, glyphosate is rarely used and applied as a single chemical. Many additional chemicals are added to glyphosate to force the plant to uptake the chemical more efficiently, and therefore independent researchers consider it far more toxic than just a “probable carcinogen” based on the combination of other chemicals used in the real life formulations like “Round-up Weed Killer” produced by Bayer/Monsanto.

500+ Pesticides

Several studies have found different types of herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides in either honey, pollen, or beebread samples over a few decades. In fact, many researchers have drawn the conclusion that several types of pesticides may be a primary influence in colony collapse.

  • Neonicotinoid and pyrethroid insecticides have been identified in pollen and beebread samples by French investigators. Analytical standards of imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, clothianidine, acetamiprid, esfenvalerate thiacloprid, bifenthrine, deltamethrine, lambda-cyhalothrine, imidacloprid-d4 and cypermethrine-d6 were found.
  • Fungicides like carbendazim, boscalid, flusilazole, metconazole, tebuconazole and trifloxystrobin and neonicotinoids including thiamethoxam, thiacloprid and imidacloprid were identified in pollen samples collected in the United Kingdom.

Many other types of pesticides have also been found. The point here is — researchers typically find what is sprayed or applied to crops geographically located close to the hive. In other words, what is sprayed or applied close to the fields by the hive is what the bees will be exposed to and that can get into your honey. So what Mamavation has done is tested the 500+ most common pesticides to try and capture most of the possibilities.

Details of the Testing From Our EPA-Certified Laboratory

Glyphosate Test Details

Mamavation sent Nature Nate’s 100% Pure Organic Raw & Unfiltered Honey to our EPA Certified lab. The lab tested for glyphosate, glufosinate, and AMPA using liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry detector (LC-MS/MS) at 10 parts per billion (ppb) detection limit. This is the standard test going as low as possible in a commercial lab. (University labs may be able to go lower.)

500+ Pesticide Test of Honey Testing Details

Nature Nate’s 100% Pure Organic Raw & Unfiltered Honey was sent to our EPA-certified lab and  analyzed using two different methods which totaled testing for 587 pesticides. The first group analyzed coffee using the GC-MS/MS technique for 227 pesticides and included the following:

Conclusion of Nature’s Nate Honey Investigation on Glyphosate & Other Pesticides Plus Additional Investigations

In conclusion, Mamavation has determined the product we tested — Nature Nate’s 100% Pure Organic Raw & Unfiltered Honey to be free of detectable glyphosate and other pesticides. This is great news because you cannot control where the bees go after they leave the hive and evidently they are not pollinating or feeding on any flowers that have deposited pesticide residue above the detection limit of our lab.

I would be really interested in hearing Mamavation’s thoughts on this. Concerningly, there has been no response.

I recently read an article that indicated that Nate’s honey has been adulterated and is not “real honey”. The evidence presented in the article was pretty overwhelming. Is there any way the testing you had done on the honey could determine if this is true?
