Infrared Sauna: A Safe Way to Detox & Lose Weight 7

//  by

When you think of saunas, you may think of a spa day with your girlfriends, a way to relax after a workout, or something you treat yourself to on vacation. But did you know that a sauna can actually help improve your health, especially detoxing chemicals like BPA, PCBs and pesticides? That’s important given families are constantly bombarded with a barrage of endocrine disrupting chemicals in our foods, our products and our homes. We are surrounded by so many stores and retailers that won’t clean up their act, that toxic insult is becoming an important health concern for our families. In fact, it’s estimated that the cost of endocrine disrupting chemicals is costing Americans $340 Billion every year in health care costs and loss of productivity. From all the research we have done on infrared sauna technology and from our own experience, we can comfortably say that infrared saunas can be a benefit to your health in many different ways!

So, What Is An Infrared Sauna?

To understand these types of saunas, you need to understand infrared light. What is it? Let’s use sunlight as an example to discuss the different types of light, all of which emit heat as well.

Sunlight is made of visible light – what we can with our eyes which produces color – and invisible light. Visible light can be safe, unless you stare directly at the sun which can damage your eyes.

Sunlight is also made of two types light that are invisible to the human eye. The first type is ultraviolet. This is the type of light that can cause sunburns, skin damage and skin cancer from overexposure. That’s because this type of light carries a lot of energy and heat. It is also provides Vitamin D.

The other type of invisible light is infrared. Infrared has the lowest energy of all sunlight and thus is the safest. Infrared saunas use technology to recreate this particular low energy light in an enclosed system along with water to create steam.

Why Use An Infrared Sauna?

These invisible infrared light and heat waves can penetrate your skin, moving deeply into your body. This can:

  • help activate your sweat glands–one of the most important ways our body eliminates toxins
  • boost your metabolism to aid in weight loss
  • help your body release gasses, allowing even more toxins to leave it
  • aid in circulation, releasing oxygen to help injuries

Infrared heat already exists all around us, and even our bodies emit it, so it is safe for humans.

What Are The Health Benefits of Infrared Sauna?

We know that saunas help us to sweat and that sweat is important for health, immunity and detoxification. What you might not know is that saunas can also help with many other health issues. In fact, that studies have been done to confirm the benefits of infrared saunas.

Jacuzzi®, who sells Clearlight Infrared Saunas, has participated in a number of studies researching the effect of infrared sauna on the  human body. Let’s take a look at the top health benefits:

Weight Loss and Increased Metabolism

A study done on by Binghamton University in New York using Jacuzzi® infrared saunas showed that increased core body temperature created by the infrared heat in the sauna lead to a decrease in body fat. This was true even when the study participants didn’t change their exercise or eating habits! Infrared saunas may also help reduce stress-related weight gain, which diet and exercise do not help.

Muscle Pain Relief

Because infrared exposure can increase your blood flow, injured muscles get much-needed oxygen and may recover faster. Infrared heat also helps you muscles relax, and expands some blood vessels to speeds healing of nerve injury. It can also reduce sore nerve endings.

Infrared saunas are healthy and a good way to detox

Immune System Boost

The heaters in an infrared sauna raise your body’s core temperature, creating a kind of artificial fever. This can strengthen your immune system response, making you more resistant to disease.

Detoxification

Because sweat helps to detox the body of heavy metals, infrared sauna is a safe, natural way to detox. Studies have found that arsenic, lead, mercury and cadmium were present in sweat, often in greater concentrations than in urine or blood. These high levels are also true of other nasty chemicals we encounter everyday like certain pesticides, PFCs (from Teflon), PCBs, and BPA. Infrared sauna can help you sweat out these contaminants. We recommend adding more cilantro & cholera to your diet to help your body release and then eliminate these toxins when using the infrared sauna regularly.

Can Improve Appearance of Cellulite

Cellulite is caused when pockets of fat get trapped in certain areas of your body. It is not related to obesity, which is why weight loss may not reduce cellulite. Cellulite is actually linked to genetics, but it can also be caused by poor diet, slow metabolism, lack of activity and other issues. In theory, Infrared saunas can help reduce cellulite by increasing your heart rate and blood circulation in affected areas. This in turn reduces the accumulation of these fat cells and may reduce cellulite. More studies need to be done on this theme, but many have expressed using infrared technology for this purpose with success so we are including it here.

Ease Joint Pain, Stiffness and Arthritis

The effects of infrared sauna were studied on patients who suffered different types of arthritis. The sauna improved their pain and stiffness, without any negative effects observed. It was a small study and more research is needed, but infrared heat has also been observed to benefit sprains, bursitis, muscle spasms, joint stiffness and other related issues.

Reduces Stress and Fatigue

A hot sauna reduces built-up tension and stress, as we all know, but an infrared sauna can also positively impact your nervous system, allowing your body to heal from stress and exhaustion.

These are just a few of the benefits of infrared sauna. Studies are also being done on its benefits for:

  • Wound healing
  • Cardiovascular health and healing
  • Diabetes
  • Hyperthermia
  • COPD
  • Alzheimer’s/Dementia
  • Depression
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic Fatigue

Infrared saunas do much more than just allow you to relax. They can promote healing for all kinds of physical ailments and improve your overall health.
