True brand transparency can be very helpful to consumers and we want to show you what that can look like. Mamavation hopes that one day, most brands will adopt the transparency modeled by two brands representing essential staples in your kitchen: Kasandrinos olive oil and Zego oatmeal. In this post, we will go over how they radically differ from other brands delivering you the same staple (olive oils & oatmeals) but with radical transparency and why it’s in your best interests to support these brands over others. You’ve trusted Mamavation to bring you topics like, (1) safest cooking oils tested for phthalates, (2) safest coffees tested for pesticides & PFAS, and (3) water purification systems that can filter PFAS “forever chemicals,” now join us as we bring you two brands that we believe are role-modeling the type of transparency needed in the food supply to make educated decisions.

Kasandrinos Releases Laboratory Testing Data to the Public
Kasandrinos is an exceptional brand. Their olive oil was independently tested by Mamavation and found to have the lowest phthalate levels of all the olive oils we tested at that time. After we tested them, we contacted them to understand better why their levels of phthalates were so low compared to all others. In the interview, we discovered they used ancient harvesting practices that differed from other brands, such as handpicking olives and using burlap sacks to gather them in the field. It seems these old practices that have been followed for thousands of years in olive oil harvesting in Greece are the ones that may keep us the safest from phthalates in general. But what about other possible contaminants like heavy metals? They have addressed these issues recently in a new transparency campaign.
Kasandrinos has now released pesticide, phthalate, bisphenol, heavy metal, and chemical analysis testing results of 100% of their olive oils. This is a huge deal because there aren’t many brands who have decided to be this transparent with their customers about contaminants. The contaminant testing list includes the following:
- Glyphosate testing
- Heavy metal testing
- Phthalate testing
- Bisphnol testing
- Chemical analysis testing
- Acidity level testing
They have also proudly linked up all their original certifications for you to see, including the following:
- USDA Organic
- Kosher
- NonGMO Verified
- Keto & Paleo

Zego Releases Laboratory Testing Data to the Public &
Zego, a brand offering oats, muesli, and protein powders, released its “purity verified food” testing on its website and mobile app. All you need to do is either click on a product on their website OR scan your product, and you’ll find information about each lot of oats. Zego is sharing the following with its audiences:
- Pesticide testing (glyphosate)
- Heavy metal testing (lead, cadmium, arsenic, & mercury)
It’s very important to know that the testing they are releasing provides very relevant information. Glyphosate and heavy metals are very common contaminants around oats because of dessication practices, and therefore, they are showcasing what other brands want to hide from you. To be even more useful, they are also offering you a sliding scale that makes understanding levels of harm easier to figure out. How much is too much lead? They will tell you based on both American and international standards for each contaminant. How much lead or glyphosate does the industry typically have? They tell you that too!
But it doesn’t stop there. Colleen Kavanagh, the founder of Zego, has decided to advocate for your family in a way that will change the supply chain in a deeper and more meaningful way. She has purchased a mill and is becoming an ingredient supplier for other brands that want the cleanest grains available. This is very important because finding “clean” oats and other types of grains is difficult, and she wants to be part of that solution. Stay tuned as Mamavation releases which brands use their “purity verified grains” in 2026.
